Our Long Weekend at Hoburne Naish Holiday Park

Okay, so holidaying with toddlers isn’t relaxing per se, but getting away from it all and having some new surroundings once in a while is certainly refreshing. In the fortnight prior to this break, all of us were unwell with a virus at one point or another, so we were definitely ready for a holiday! I spent a long time searching online for somewhere to stay, and when I came across Hoburne Naish I felt I’d finally found everything I was looking for.

On my holiday wishlist:

  • Less than 3 hours’ drive from London, preferably coastal
  • Clean, comfortable, safe and spacious accommodation
  • Swimming and restaurant facilities on-site

Hoburne is a group of seven holiday parks, predominantly in the southern counties. They offer pitches for camping, as well as caravan, chalet and lodge stays.

The Lodge

We stayed in a 3 bedroom Becton Lodge, which is the top specification at Hoburne Naish. We were seriously impressed with the comfort, layout, cleanliness and the range of ‘mod cons’ on offer.

The open-plan living area also contains the kitchen. There is really everything you could need here for a short stay: a huge American-style fridge freezer, double oven and hob, kettle, toaster, microwave and even a washer-dryer. Everything was really comfortable and homely, it was the perfect base for our stay.

We had an allocated parking space near to our lodge, allowing us to come and go from the site as we pleased. The lodge also had a fully enclosed, decked verandah, perfect for the little ones to run around safely!

The master bedroom has an en-suite shower room, and the other two bedrooms are twin rooms, with another bathroom in between.

The Leisure Complex

Within the leisure complex is a walk-in, shallow, baby and toddler pool, complete with fun fountains to play in. There is also a large main swimming pool and a small gym available for use. Although the changing rooms are quite small, we found them warm and clean.

The Club

The Club building houses the main entertainment room, an arcade/games room, plus a cafe and restaurant.

By the cafe there is a very small soft-play area. Our two enjoyed it although needed some help getting around. I would say it’s suitable for under 4’s. We ate at the brasserie on Sunday evening and the food was good, plus the staff was very accommodating for Douglas and Arthur, which helped us relax!

There is a pathway to the beach, though it is steep and has steps so isn’t buggy accessible.

The Local Area

Across one weekend we didn’t have masses of time to explore the area, but on Saturday when the weather was good we visited two local beaches, Barton-on-Sea and Avon. The following pictures we took at Barton-on-Sea. From the clifftop car park, we pushed the buggy down a steep slope. It’s quite a rocky area and we couldn’t really get close to the waves, but the shingle path was still enjoyed by my curious boys! Look at that view!

The most easily accessible beach was Avon Beach. The car park here was just moments from the sand. Lots of good opportunities for splashing around in wellies!

The Cliffhanger Cafe at Highcliffe was also a huge hit, and we popped in there a few times for breakfast or brunch. The cafe had a concise menu, served delicious food and had panoramic views of the sea, perfect! The service was also great.

All in all, although the sea air didn’t quite have the sleep-inducing effects on the boys that we were hoping for, we made the most of our time together exploring somewhere new. Thank you for a fantastic stay, Hoburne Naish! We’re sure we’ll be back!
