I don’t think anything can prepare you for the workload that comes with caring for two newborns. “Double Trouble” is a choice phrase of (mostly well-wishing) strangers, and sometimes they’re not wrong! Sitting here now, it’s hard to remember when I last ate a full meal with both hands. I’m still less than expert at manoeuvring the pram. (Why, random-bollards-in-the-supermarket, do you exist?!) And how long is it since I cleaned the bathroom floor? Still, you can’t help marvelling at these two lovely, tiny beings and the journey that brought them into our lives.

D & A were born on 25th May, weighing 4lb 11oz and 5lb 1oz respectively. Due to complications with the pregnancy in the latter stages, I was induced at 34 weeks and delivered the boys in the small hours of the morning. They spent 12 long days in the NNU before we could bring them home. Second to the joyous realisation that, although premature, the babies had been born healthy, has to be the immense relief and happiness of leaving the hospital together at last. Life since then has been a whirlwind of learning about them both as we fumble our way through all the practicalities as first time parents. Some days I feel I can take on the world, others are just about getting through the day. One thing’s for sure – there’s never a dull moment!
